Emerson loves the zoo! She points and makes the animal noises and is just so excited with everything she sees. I was a little scared to be that close to the gorilla (even through the glass) because I thought he was going to bang on it...and break through or something. It will probably become a weekly visit once the weather gets nicer. We have been twice...the two warm days we have had this spring. Someday the sunshine and warm weather will be here.

Even though this was Emerson's second Easter, I still don't think she knew what was going on (maybe next year). Instead of dying eggs, she put stickers on plastic eggs. She really got into it and would occasionally need to taste the sticker and make sure it was ok. She woke up and had two Easter baskets (one from us and one from Meemaw and Meepaw)which she enjoyed digging through. I started helping her look for the eggs and she found three right off the bat and then she went back and played with the "stuff" in her basket. I kind of gave up and let Nick help her, which of course she then went on to find the rest. She had fun and so did we!

Happy Birthday to Emerson!
Our little baby turned one! We can't believe it. That was the fastest year we have ever lived. Emerson had no idea what was going on but we made it a special day for her. She loves all her new toys...there are way too many of them! And she loved her cake. She did exactly what I wanted her to do...eat it, smear it, play with it, and love it. We gave her a bath in the sink when she was done and then she got another bath because it was everywhere. I think her favorite part of the day was the balloons, go figure. Such a mix of emotions. It really makes you realize how fast life goes and to remember to enjoy every minute because you will never get this time back. We are so proud to be her parents an look forward to the next year and all of it's adventures.

Columbus Blizzard
We felt like we were back in Colorado the past couple of days. The snow started early Friday morning and didn't stop until 10pm on Saturday. It was super windy and cold. I tried to take Emerson outside on Saturday during the blizzard, but she did not enjoy the snow blowing in her face, but I did manage to get a picture of her on our patio table. I think we got around 15 inches. We were finally able to get out and get some fresh air on Sunday. The sun has been shinning all day and even though it was only 30 degrees, it felt really warm. We have shoveled most of our area, but can't finish until there is some place else to put the rest of the snow. Oh...and I emerson is wearing my sunglasses and I am wearing Nick's, it was soooo bright. Guess I need to buy her some sunglasses!

Spending time with daddy
Emerson had learned all about tools and how to do them since we have started all of our home improvement projects. She is always curious what daddy is doing and really wants to help. The floors are coming along. We have the kitchen and part of the entry way left. It really does look great, nick has done an amazing job...so far!
Now the picture with all the bows...this has been my fear ever since we found out we were having a girl. Nick thinks he knows how to do hair! I could not stop laughing and emerson didn't know what to think. She kept looking at herself in the mirror, but I don't think she knew who she was looking at. Nick kept telling her that she looked so pretty, and although I will always think my daughter is pretty, this was a bit too much!
