Carter's two months already?

We went to the doctor monday for his two month check-up. He is 12 pounds 11 ounces which is the 80th percentile and he is in the 50th for height. emerson was only 10 pounds 4 ounces at two months. He got three shots and emerson almost started crying right along with him. She felt so bad for him and kept saying, "it's okay buddy." He slept the rest of the morning and when he woke up he would not stop screaming. I couldn't do anything to calm him down and finally after an hour he passed out on my chest. Thankfully Nick was home on time because I was stuck on the couch holding carter and emerson needed some TLC. The doctor said that hopefully sometime this month he will start sleeping through the night...hopefully! I really can't complain because he only gets up once, but it sure would be nice to get eight hours in a row. Carter is a very sweet boy and we are so lucky to have him! Oh and emerson loves sharing her toys with carter and i think carter is really enjoying holding her baby!

Too much going on to blog...sorry!

I am having a hard time figuring out how to get everything done around here. I know I'm not super woman, but I wish I was able to do more. A typical day in the mills house looks like this: I wake up and feed carter, change his diaper, get him dressed for the day, get myself dressed, get emerson up, change emerson's diaper, get emerson dressed, and head downstairs for breakfast. Make emerson and myself breakfast, try to eat before carter realizes that he is by himself on the floor and wants to be held, clean up breakfast, pack bag, put carter in car seat, put shoes on emerson and me, load car and put emerson in car, come back to get carter, and head out for one of emerson's classes or to the park with friends. After a couple hours we head back home...after getting everyone back inside, I feed carter and change his diaper, make emerson and myself lunch, clean up lunch, head upstairs for emerson to take a nap, get her down, put carter down for nap and hold him for a little so he knows that his mommy loves him, and this is where I get to choose what I want to do...do I take a nap, take a shower, check email/blog, clean a bathroom, or fold laundry? Most of the time I choose to take a nap and take a shower. After naps we play downstairs or play outside and wait for daddy to get home. As soon as Nick walks in the door I start dinner and nick gives carter a bottle. We try to eat as a family and then we play a little before bath time. After bath we read books and then bedtime for emerson. Carter eats again and then takes a little nap before he eats one last time before we all go to bed. Carter wakes up around 3:30 am to eat and I usually am back in bed by 4:30 and then awake again at 7:30 to start the next day.
We have been busy getting both kids rooms put together. We recently built a room for carter upstairs by splitting emerson's room in half. I know it sounds silly but we are going to stay in this house until nick finishes his residency (two more years), so we wanted the kids to have their own room. Emerson helped our a lot with all the painting and picked to have her new wall painted purple. During all this we transitioned her into a "big girl bed." We were very nervous about this because she has always been a great sleeper and we didn't want to mess that up and also because she is having a hard time with change right now. We picked the day that we were going to do it and we did it! She did great except that when I went in to get her up in the morning she was on the floor! Nick asked her where she slept and she said, "right her daddy on the floor!" We never heard a peep from her in the middle of the night so who knows how long she had been there. So far, so good with the new bed. We are still working on carter's room and hope to have it done soon.
The weather has been pretty nice so we are spending as much time as we can outside. emerson loves to go for walks and find "walking sticks." we were on a walk the other night and I said, "emerson your belly looks pretty big" (she had just finished eating dinner), and she said, "I have a baby in there and it's coming out real soon." She is so funny and constantly making us laugh.
Carter is doing great too! He smiles a lot and babbles when you talk to him. He really likes to be where the action is. We go to the doctor monday for his 2 month check-up so I will update more on him after his appointment.
Sorry for the long blog!

What are you doing emerson?

So we were in the basement playing on a typical afternoon...I was changing carter's diaper and when I looked up emerson was breast feeding her baby. I could not stop laughing. I asked her what she was doing and she said, "I'm feeding my baby mommy! She's hungry and needs to eat from my chest." I really didn't know what to say to her. It's great imaginative play so I didn't what to tell her that she couldn't do it. I asked her if she was almost done and she said, "No, I have to feed her one more side...just a second mommy." She must hear me say that a lot! When she was done she burped her baby and changed her baby's diaper. She is such a good little mommy! Unfortunately nick was not home to see this, I could not stop laughing. Later in the week we went out to dinner and she lifted up her shirt and we asked her what she was doing and she said she needed to feed her baby. We quickly had to explain that we only feed our baby at home and we only lift up our shirt at home. Oh emerson...
