St. Patrick's Day

PARTY!

Emerson had a fabulous birthday party at the place she does gymnastics. We had the whole place to ourselves, which is perfect for 10 two year olds. She had a blast! I don't think she stopped running around or smiling until it was over. We feel so lucky that emerson (and I) have such great friends.

First bath

Carter's first bath went as well as emerson's...he didn't like it one bit. He screamed through the whole thing and emerson didn't know what to think. She really doesn't like it when he cries, so we have to remind her that he really is okay. The Elmo towel is a bit much, but emerson picked it out so I couldn't say no. She loves him in it, and someday he may thank her for it!

Happy Birthday 2 Emerson!

What? We have a two year old and a one week old!? Today was emerson's birthday and we had a great day celebrating with her! We were lucky enough to have great weather and went to the park. We gave her a "bike" so she loved trying it out. It is more of a workout for us right now because she can't reach the pedals, but hopefully soon she will be riding all by herself. I made her a cake and she of course only licked the frosting off. Nick almost gave her the whole cake and I had to explain to him that you only do that on the first birthday. After we sang to her, she decided to sing happy birthday to herself, only forgetting the last line of the song. It's hard to believe that another year has gone by. For the past year everyday has been an adventure with her. She seems to learn something new everyday and find a way to make us laugh. We can't wait to experience this next year with her, starting pre-school, getting through the terrible two's, and watching her teach carter all about life. We can't say it enough, but we are so lucky to have emerson in our life.

our first week with carter

I can't believe that a week has already gone by with our little guy. Thus far he has been a great baby, eating and sleeping with a little awake time here and there. Emerson absolutely loves him! If she can't see him she asks where he is and always wants him to go everywhere she is going. Nick and I have been trying to give her one on one time but most of the time she says, "carter come with us." She loves to tickle him and rub his head. When she sees him in the morning she says, "hey brother, how you doing?"
Carter already has a best friend named Brady. They are about 5 weeks apart (should have only been a week apart but Brady decided to come super early). Brady is emerson's best buddy Jack's little brother.
I must say that the second time around is much different and easier in many ways. With emerson we were afraid to take her anywhere the first month because we didn't want her to get sick. Well...we went to the zoo day four of carter's life and have been going ever since. He has been on walks and to the park many times already. We are having a great time just being together. We feel so blessed and couldn't ask for anything more.

It's a boy!

Carter William Mills arrived on March 3rd at 1:37pm weighing in at 7 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 &3/4 inches. The labor was really fast. We are all doing great and Emerson loves her little brother. We were a little afraid of how she was going to react but she can't get enough of him. Our family now feels complete and we couldn't be happier!
