Carter buddy

"Carter buddy" is now what we call our little boy because we hear emerson saying it all the time. He is such a sweet boy and we are really enjoying watching him grow. He is 6 weeks now and growing like a weed. At four weeks he was 10 lbs. and emerson wasn't 10 lbs until she was 2 months. I'm sure we are at 11 lbs. now and will go to the doctor again in a couple of weeks. The mornings are crazy around here trying to get everyone up, dressed, fed and out the door. Emerson is still doing her music class and gymnastics so carter comes along for the ride. So far, cross your fingers, he has slept in his car seat during the classes which has been great because I can have some one-on-one time with emerson. As soon as emerson goes down for her nap I cuddle him and we rest together for awhile. Having time with him on the couch is so special and I am holding onto this time because it will soon be over. As hard as it is to get up in the middle of the night and walk around like a zombie all day, I am trying to live by what my friend said, "we can't wish this time away." Yes I would love to feel rested and also stay caught up on all the house work, but this time is so precious and before I know it, carter will be two and emerson will be four.

Easter

Easter was a little boring around here. For some reason we didn't plan anything this year. We usually go to church and then to brunch, but I think it snuck up on us this year, so it was just a normal day...except we were stuck at home because nothing was open. The easter bunny hid eggs for emerson and she had a blast looking for them. Next year we will have to tell the easter bunny to hide more because she was a little sad when it was over. I thought for sure that she would love peeps, but she really didn't like them. I think she wanted to because she held onto it most of the morning, not eating it, until I asked her if she wanted to have jellybeans instead. She quickly ran and threw the peep away and enjoyed her jellybeans.Hopefully next year it will be a little more eventful!
A couple days before Easter our playgroup did an egg hunt at the park. This was emerson's first egg hunt so she ran around finding the eggs, pointing to them and then running to the next. I kept telling her to pick it up and put it in your basket! By the end she got the hang of it and then sat enjoyed some good candy with her friends.

Hanging out around the house

Pictures with Pop

We had a great visit with Pop, nick's dad, and were sad to see him leave. One because he was so helpful and the other because now I have to figure out how to balance life with two. I feel really bad that I didn't get any pictures of carter with pop. It's hard to remember to take pictures because there is always a million other things to be done. I did get some good ones of them at the park.

Lots of visitors!

I have been meaning to blog for a couple of weeks, but it has been no stop craziness for the past three weeks. My mom was here for a little over a week with my dad and sister both stopping in for a couple of days. Emerson had a great time playing with mimi and pa and got a very special birthday present...a dollhouse! She loves playing with her dollhouse and has quite the imagination with it.
Our next visitor was Lacey, Nick's sister, and she really got to see what life is like with two. Emerson and Lacey did lots of reading and cooking and Lacey really loved to hold Carter. Pop, Nick's dad, is here now and leaves on friday. He has been a big help with both kids. I have been able to get out and do some special things with emerson and leave carter at home. This is my last week with help, so I now have to really figure out how to balance life with two.
Emerson still loves Carter and every morning when i go to get her up she says, "how ya doing little guy?" and "what did you dream about buddy?" Carter will be a month old on Friday and it's hard to believe he's been here that long. I took him to the doctor on monday for some acid-reflex and he weighs 10 pounds! emerson didn't weigh 10 pounds untill she was 2 months old. He is growing like a weed and other than some gas issues, he is a great baby. We still haven't fully figured out who he looks like because he is changing so much.
