a visit from mimi and pa

My parents were here last weekend and it was a really great trip. Nick and I had a wedding to go to in Dayton, so this was the first time we left emerson overnight. I was a little nervous at first, it being the first time, but she did great, better than i ever expected. I guess she asked for us when it was time for bed, but no tears! That's my brave girl. When we got home she wasn't even interested in us. I was expecting a movie moment when she would run up and give me a big hug and say "mommy," but no such luck. I'm just glad she had such a great time with her mimi and pa. She has been asking about them since they left, thankfully we will be seeing them in a couple of weeks. Nick and I had a great time away and wish we could do it more, but i don't think we can convince my parents to fly in for the weekend very often. I have to say that I am a bad daughter because I took no pictures over the weekend. I really can't believe it. Will try to take and post some new ones soon.

long time no blog

sorry it has been awhile. not much going on here. emerson has another ear infection...no fun! unfortunately she inherited these from nick. nick had tubes before he was one, so that is the doctors only explanation. Even though she has had three in four months, the doctor doesn't think she needs tubes because she responds well to the meds. I do really enjoy all the cuddling during these times.

It has been pretty hot lately so we have been spending lots of time at the pool. It rained the other night so we sat on the front porch and emerson decided that she wanted to walk in the rain. I personally hate walking in the rain unless covered by a big umbrella. Thankfully Nick was home and took her out for a walk. She loved it! She splashed in the puddles, played with the rain coming out of the gutter, and tried to lick the rain off her face. It's the little things in life that are so important and that are so much fun!

Happy 4th

Hope you all have a great holiday weekend! It is rainy and cold here which makes for a long day inside. Nick is working today so I thought I would take emerson to the parade, but not in the rain. Maybe next year we will celebrate the 4th the traditional way with a barbeque and fireworks, but I think emerson is still a little young for all that.
In the picture above emerson is wearing my headband and thinks she is so special when I let her wear it. She usually just takes it off right away, but this time she wore it for about 15 minutes. Nothing else is really going on...sorry not too exciting.
