We were at the park today and emerson was climbing up the slide, something she has just learned how to do by herself. I had watched her do it perfectly two times before she had a major fall. She was almost all the way up and put her leg on the outside and went face first into the ground. It seemed like everything was happening in slow motion. she fell on her neck and bounced up, then down on the ground. I was so scared. I ran over to her and was afraid to move her, but she was moving and wanting to be held. We sat there together and cried together until we both felt like the situation was okay. After about five minutes of sitting she was ready to play again. She has "road rash" all along the left side of her face, I am hoping that it won't leave a scar or else I fear she may never forgive me(the picture posted doesn't show how bad it really is). I will probably be the worried mom tonight and check on her a couple times...just to make sure my little girl is okay.
I posted some pictures of Emerson riding a horse at the zoo. I thought she would be afraid to get so close to a big animal, but she loves it. Along the ride she pets the horse, gives it hugs, and tries to give it kisses. Another favorite these days is dipping everything in ketchup. I remember growing up that my brother used to do this and I thought it was disgusting, but if it gets her to eat her meal...more power to her. And tonight we asked emerson if she wanted to go for a walk and around the corner she came with nick's flip-flops on ready to go. So funny and cute!
I know that Ohio hasn't made the national news because of everything else that is going on in the south, but we have been pretty affected by the aftermath of Ike. Winds got up to 75 mph sunday afternoon. Most of columbus has been out of power since sunday and won't get it back for a week. We lucked out and have power, but none of my friends do. Many of the traffic lights are out, which has made going anywhere take double the time and many trees were blown over. We didn't realize how bad it was until we went out monday morning.
